Family Favourite Spaghetti Bolognese

Description

This is another all-time favourite. Serve it with a good, tasty spaghetti (try experimenting with whole wheat varieties), or use another type of pasta, such as macaroni, tagliatelle or fettuccine. Cooking the spaghetti is very easy, just follow the simple instructions on the packet, and remember when it's cooked to rinse immediately in cold water in a colander. This halts the cooking and washes the starch away. Spaghetti should always be served 'al dente', in other words, not mushy.

Method

  1. Heat the oil in a frying pan and sauté the onions and garlic until lightly browned.
  2. Add the Linda McCartney Vegemince and cook for 2 minutes, stirring often
  3. Add the tomatoes, tomato paste, basil and water or vegetable stock, then simmer, covered, for 1 hour. 
  4. Add a little more water or vegetable stock if the sauce becomes too thick

Ingredients

2 tbsp olive oil
2 onions , chopped
2 cloves garlic, crushed
4 1/2oz Linda McCartney Vegemince
1 cup mushrooms, sliced
2 10oz cans chopped tomatoes
4-5 tbsp tomato paste
Fresh basil to taste
1 cup water or vegetable stock
