It was a very proud moment for Kate Ford and our team here at Linda McCartney Foods as the first of the competition winning mushroom and ale pies came off our production line last week.
We were delighted that Kate was able to meet our production team and take a tour of our meat free site and of course taste her delicious pie. Only a year later and Earth Hour had become a global sustainability movement with more than 50 million people across 35 countries participating. Global landmarks such as the, Sydney Harbour Bridge, The CN Tower in Toronto, The Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, and Romeâs Colosseum, all stood in darkness, as symbols of hope for a cause that grows more urgent by the hour.
In March 2009, hundreds of millions of people took part in the third Earth Hour. Over 4000 cities in 88 countries officially switched off to pledge their support for the planet, making Earth Hour 2009 the worldâs largest global climate change initiative.
Earth Hour 2010 takes place on Saturday 27 March at 8.30pm (local time) and is a global call to action to every individual, every business and every community throughout the world. It is a call to stand up, to take responsibility, to get involved and lead the way towards a sustainable future. Iconic buildings and landmarks from Europe to Asia to the Americas will stand in darkness. People across the world from all walks of life will turn off their lights and join together in celebration and contemplation of the one thing we all have in common â our planet.
Letâs make 2010 the biggest Earth Hour yet! Itâs Showtime! Show the world what can be done.
Donât forget also the clocks go forward Saturday night.

Linda McCartney Photography Exhibition

Š 2007 MPL Communications Ltd
Visit the James Hyman Gallery in Mayfair to see âLinda McCartney Photographsâ, the very first major exhibition of Lindaâs photographs presented in the UK.
Photographed from the 1960s up until the late 1990s, these pictures present a personal record of the times and feature many rarely seen works, as well as better known images.
The exhibition includes portraits of Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, Paul McCartney, John Lennon, Paul Simon & Art Garfunkel, Gilbert & George and Mick Jagger. It also presents landscapes, intimate interiors, self-portraits and family life.
Paul McCartney says: âAn exhibition presenting the range of Lindaâs photographic work is long overdue, so Iâm obviously pleased that this show is happening. James Hyman, my daughter Mary, and I have worked on it now for three years, and the result is a sensitive selection of works that really demonstrates Lindaâs creative output as a photographer. The photographs not only illustrate her incredible talent as an artist, but as someone who was very much connected to the culture of the times, and wasnât afraid to challenge herself, or her subject.â

Paul & Mary visit the Fakenham factory
Paul and Mary recently made a return visit to the Linda McCartney factory in Fakenham. âItâs great to be backâ said Paul. Their last visit had been with Linda years earlier and the return brought back many happy memories.
Donned in Health & Safety gear, Paul and Mary enjoyed wandering around the facility chatting to workers on the assembly line. They were amazed to see all of the changes and how the operation works on a day to day basis.
With much amusement they joined in the assembly line and placed sheets of free-range egg pasta on top of the lasagne. âIt was certainly harder than I thought . . . but I managed itâ Paul said, managing not to drop any pasta. âHowever, later they told me that theyâd put the line on half speed especially for us!â
Not only did Paul and Mary participate on the factory floor they also discussed exciting new plans for the future of the brand.
âWe had a great day, thanks to everyone!â
Paul and Mary McCartney
